The Hollywood Transit Center is an important part of the Hollywood neighborhood since 1986, and is located along the Banfield Freeway, south of the intersection of Northeast 42nd Avenue and Halsey Street.
It serves 3 light rail lines: Red, Blue, Green and 3 Bus Lines.
HOLLYWOOD HUB DEVELOPMENT PROJECT
As part of our goal for making our region one of the world’s most inclusive, sustainable and livable places, TriMet is partnering with BRIDGE Housing to create a community-centered transit-oriented development at the Hollywood Transit Center.
In conjunction with TriMet’s major infrastructure improvements to the transit center, BRIDGE Housing aims to deliver a 100% permanently affordable housing building on a portion of the site.
This project started in 2023, and is scheduled for completion in 2027. This 12-story building will provide 222 housing units (125 affordable units) and a range of amenities including a community room, private meeting space, bike parking, and courtyard.
The project will also modernize the transit center to seamlessly connect bus, bike, MAX and shared mobility options. This includes moving the bus stops onto NE Halsey Street. The new bus stops will feature weather protection, TransitTracker™ and a welcoming, accessible pedestrian connection to MAX.
Currently, buses are on a three year temporary re-route to accommodate construction. The power substation for MAX — originally installed in 1986 — will be replaced, along with upgraded lighting, signage and public spaces that integrate the transit center with the Hollywood neighborhood.
